AN IMAGE has been released of a man police would like to speak to after a brawl broke out between football fans on a train in Worcester.

A shocked passenger took the picture on their phone of the man who was on the carriage from New Street at the time the fight broke out at about 6.45pm on Saturday, September 19.

Around 10 men were involved in the brawl, thought to be a mixture of Aston Villa, Wolverhampton and West Bromwich Albion fans.

Belts were being used as weapons during the fight with the suspects described as white and in their mid-30s.

PC Ben Smith from British Transport Police said: “We’d like to thank the quick-thinking passenger who took the photograph.

“Now we need the public’s help to identify this man so we can speak to him about what happened.

“We know all the men got off at Worcester Foregate Street station and our CCTV enquiries into who else may have been a part of that group continue.

“I’d urge anyone who was involved to come forward as soon as possible and tell us their side of the story before our net closes in on them.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
