A MAN has been ordered to pay more than £200 and was given a sexual harm prevention order for not informing the police that girls under the age of 18 were staying over night at his address.

Cliff Butler, Purleigh Avenue, pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates’ Court last Friday (April 24) for not complying with the requirements of being on the sex offenders register.

Owen Beale, prosecuting, told the court between February 7 and February 9 last year Butler resided with four ladies under the age of 18 at his home address.

Mr Beale said: “It came to light when police began to investigate a complaint made by two of these young ladies on a serious matter, not to do with this defendant but someone else is under suspicion.

“He thought he could have contact if supervised, he had been given a copy of new register requirements but had not kept this copy.

“The individuals did not come to see him and he stayed in his own bedroom.

“This is a misunderstanding and he has been explained what exactly he can and can not do.”

Chair of the bench Josephine Hodges ordered Butler to pay a £110 fine, £85 in court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

She said: “The court confirms this is to protect the public from sexual harm to children or vulnerable adults.

“Make sure you know what you can and can not do, if you are in any doubt ask someone.”
