Inquest opened after Sainsbury's toilet death

AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a man whose body was found in a toilet at a Worcester supermarket.

Craig Addison, of St Paul’s Hostel, was discovered in a cubicle at the Sainsbury’s store in St John’s at 6.38am last Thursday (December 4).

Officers from West Mercia Police attended the scene, but they confirmed they are not treating the 33-year-old’s death as suspicious.

Staff at the Swanpool Walk store have since spoken of their shock at the incident, which is still being investigated by police.




A spokeswoman from Sainsbury’s said: “This was disturbing for all colleagues at the store and we send our condolences to the family. We notified the police immediately and are of course helping them with their investigation. ”

A spokeswoman from West Mercia Police added: “We were called to Sainsbury’s on Swanpool Walk in Worcester at 6.38am on Thursday, December 4, where the body of a man in his 30s was sadly discovered in a customer toilet.


“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s family have been informed.”

The inquest at Worcestershire Coroners Court was opened and adjourned today (Tuesday).
