A LOVING couple from a Worcester care home received a ‘sparkling celebration’ after reaching their diamond wedding anniversary.

Patricia and Leslie Woolley, residents at Perry Manor care home, celebrated with family, friends, residents and staff on Thursday, January, 7.

The devoted couple received a personal congratulatory card from the Queen and a cake which had been hand-baked by head chef, Peter McGregor.

Patricia, aged 80 and Leslie, aged 83, met in 1954 on a blind date organised by their friends. Two years later they tied the knot and had three children, Yvonne, Paul and Anita.

They lived together in Solihull until they both moved to Perry Manor to be closer to family in August 2015.

Pushpa Sagoo, manager of the care home said: “We understand the importance of special milestones here and celebrating a diamond wedding anniversary is a remarkable achievement.

“Everyone had a fantastic time and it was an honour to celebrate such a wonderful occasion with the couple.”
