City Pokemon Go players urged to stay safe

Worcester Editorial 19th Jul, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

POKEMON GO players in Worcester are being urged to stay and play safe as they take to the streets to find the little cult creatures.

The advice comes from West Mercia Police which is particularly concerned about younger players with the school summer holidays coming up.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Please remember that your safety comes before catching that Drowzee or Squirtle.

“Let someone know where you’re going, be aware of your surroundings and follow all normal road safety advice.

“For grown ups playing – we hope it goes without saying but under no circumstances is it okay to catch Pokémon whilst you’re driving.”

Other concerns as well as road safety ones voiced by the police include being aware of pickpockets and distraction thefts and the potential for street robbery as many players have been walking around with their phones or other mobile devices held out in front of them.
