THOUSANDS of chocoholics flocked to the city centre for a day of treats, truffle making and chocolate trails.
Visitors were able to indulge themselves in a variety of activities on Saturday (April 12) as the city celebrated Chocolate Day.
The event, which was organised by Worcester BID, saw a host of on street entertainment including a chocolate egg and spoon race, face painting and cookery demonstrations from professional chef Mark Lloyd, while magician Wonky Wonka caused a stir.
More than 70 businesses also took part in the special day and events officer Nadja von Dahlen said she had received plenty of praise from store managers who benefited from the extra footfall.
“There was a very vibrant atmosphere in the city,” she said. “People seemed to really enjoy themselves, especially the egg and spoon race and the colouring in competitions, while the cookery demonstrations were very busy.
“A lot of the businesses have said the chocolate trails worked really well for them because people who were new to the area popped in so it raised their awareness.
“We last did the event in 2011 and it was very popular, so we brought back this year. It was also a good time to do it again, especially following the recent floods as it gave people a purpose to come to Worcester and hopefully people will come back to the city again.”
