Bon voyage: Charity ride to Paris

A HUSBAND and wife duo swapped the stresses of life as city solicitors for the strains of cycling hundreds of miles for charity.

Wayne and Nicola Thomas, who work at Thomas Guise on Foregate Street, joined 200 keen cyclists to ride from London to Paris.

The Global Adventure Challenge saw them peddle more than 300 miles over four days before finishing in the French capital.

Despite months of intensive training, Wayne, who is a director at the Worcester firm, said the ride was tougher than they expected.

“The ride was tougher than we expected, on day two from Calais to Amiens we cycled 102 miles, with 6,000 feet of climbing in 30 degree heat,” he said.

“But it was a great experience, and the team spirit was just incredible. So far we’ve raised nearly £450 for charity, and hope to raise more. It was a very special experience, done for two worthwhile local causes.”

The funds raised will go to Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove where Nicola’s mother was cared for and Worcester Snoezelen, which provides a multi-sensory environment for people with severe learning difficulties.
