Observer announces sponsorship of major sports awards

Bullivant Media – publishers of the Observer – have announced that they will be sponsoring this year’s Herefordshire and Worcestershire Sports Awards, which will honour the top sporting talent from the two counties.

Now in its 15th year, the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire annual event recognises the sporting achievements and celebrates good practice within the local sporting community.

Nominations have already started to arrive but there is still time to put forward candidates who deserve recognition for their sporting achievement and dedication to sport within their community.

Welcoming the sponsorship Stephen Brewster, Director of The Sports Partnership, said: “The 2014 SPOTY award celebrates and recognises the very best sporting talent across Herefordshire & Worcestershire and we are delighted that this year Bullivant Media are sponsoring the award. Through their support we are hoping to uncover the sporting personalities that have shone this year.”




Chris Bullivant, managing director of Bullivant Media which publishes titles in Redditch, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Worcester, Malvern and Evesham, said: “We’ve always been proud of the sporting achievements of the teams from our area, from those at the top of the professional game to those turning out week after week to keep the flag flying for sport.”

“We look forward to highlighting the cream of our sporting talents through these prestigious award.”


The annual awards culminate in a presentation dinner, which is attended by more than 250 amateur and professional sports people, local businesses and dignitaries. This year it will take place on Tuesday, November 4 at Worcester Warriors RFC’s Sixways Stadium.

The awards categories are Community Coach of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Junior Female Sports Person of the Year, Junior Male Sports Person of the Year, Senior Female Sports Person of the Year, Senior Male Sports Person of the Year, Disabled Sportsperson of the Year, Community Club of the Year, Junior Team of the Year, Community Project of the Year, Unsung Hero and BBC Newcomer.
