ONE of the country’s most famous love stories will be retold in a new fast-paced adaption in Worcester next week.

The Swan Theatre Amateur Company will perform Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice from Tuesday, May 5 to Saturday, May 9 at 7.30pm on their home stage.

The tale centres around the Bennets, three women whose mother is desperate to get them wealthy husbands.

When Jane Bennet catches the attention of a rich, young man, Charles Bingly, she is left broken hearted when his friend Mr Darcy insults the family and deters him from pursuing her.

When Lizzie discovers that Mr Darcy and his sister have engineered Mr Bingley’s removal from the scene, her hatred of him knows no bounds.

The play, adapted by Brian Burton, is directed by Tim Crow.

Tickets cost £10 and £8 for concessions and can be bought from the box office at Huntingdon Hall on 01905 611427.
